Thanks to the support of HE Eric Chesnel, Ambassador of Gabon to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta in Rome, the Cochin Hospital in Paris donated an ultrasound machine to the Order of Malta France in December 2023 to support its work in Gabon.

The Embassy thus received this essential device by air at the end of January 2024, which is essential for medical diagnostics for the health and care of mothers and children.

The Embassy team then donated this device on June 28, 2024, to the Catholic dispensary of Nzeng-Ayong, managed by the Archdiocese of Libreville. This donation comes at an opportune time, as the dispensary’s ultrasound needs have steadily increased in recent years and its equipment had become obsolete. Currently in the process of being expanded to obtain Community Hospital status, the clinic now carries out nearly 230 prenatal consultations per year.
