The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Gabon Jean-Hugues de Pradel de Lamaze was visiting Makokou, in the eastern province of Ogooué Ivindo in Gabon, from March 4 to 6, 2023.

Responding to a commitment made to Monsignor Séverin Nziengui Magandza, Apostolic Vicar of Makokou, this trip to the heart of the country was an opportunity to come and find out about the needs of the local population in terms of health and access to care.

After a reception with the Governor of the Province, Mrs. Christiane LECKAT, and a visit to different sites, including the Makokou regional hospital, the Ambassador Jean-Hugues de Pradel de Lamaze, accompanied by Doctor Claude Bachelard of “Ordre de Malte France” and the diplomatic team of the embassy, agreed with the authorities to give priority to the most remote populations, in particular those of Mekambo for which initial support in providing medication can be provided by the end of the year.
